消失的臉龐 (兩穿式披風) Disappeared Face (2 Way Cape)
Under Japan’s colonization, facial tattoo was deemed uncivilized and thus banned.
Followed by KMT’s arrival and education, it was said to be ugly.
As a result, what used to be the symbol of beauty and adulthood was no longer seen on the Atayal people’s faces.
Now we try to pass down the culture with the patterns of facial tattoo on our woven fabric.
This cape was decorated with the patterns of facial tattoos which symbolize the beauty of Atayal women.
2-way – Horizontally, it can be worn with a wide boat-neck. Vertically (as shown in the picture), the V-neck would highlight your chest and back.
